Parasite Prevention

It’s important that your pet is regularly check and treated for parasites such as fleas, ticks and worms. These parasites can cause pain and discomfort as well as in extreme cases death. Fleas are particularity common in Australia due to our warm environment. Given fleas have up to 50 offspring every single day, this makes them tricky to get rid of once you have an infestation. As well as being hard to clear, fleas survive by drinking blood which causes red itchy bumps. They can also spread diseases.

The treatment administered for your pet whether it be flea or worm infestation must be suitable for their species, breed and size. It is important to identify the parasite you are treating your pet for. If you suspect your pet is being affected by a parasite, reach out to our veterinary team with your questions or to book a check-up.

A variety of medications can be used to eradicate or protect from fleas, ticks and/or heartworms. Often these are administered on a regular basis to keep the protection going all year round in the form of monthly chewable product.
